| Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) | |
| 1. Why is this free? The owner of this site has chosen to share his personal stock selections with the public. There is no express or implied warranty with respect to any of the information contained on this website. Readers are encouraged to do their own research before investing or trading stocks. |
| 2. How much experience does the owner
of this website have trading securities? 15 years |
| 3. Is the owner a professional trader? No. The owner runs several other businesses full time. Picking stocks is a hobby. |
| 4. What is the methodology behind the
stock picks? See the Services page for more information. |
| 5. How many stock positions are
typically maintained at a single time? It varies greatly. The range is usually between 5 and 15. |
| 6. Why should I trust a free website? You shouldn't. The picks here are offered purely for entertainment value only. Interested readers are encouraged to follow along week after week and come to their own conclusions about whether or not the stocks discussed on this website are of any value. Investors should always research stocks on their own before investing. |
| 7. Does the stock picker have any
specific goal or target in mind? Yes. A target of a 5% monthly return has been set. Most importantly, that goal must be achieved specifically by selecting value and momentum stocks that offer superior risk-to-reward ratios at key turning points in the general market. |
| 8. What are the key turning points in
the general market? Swing trading is employed in an attempt to maximize the movement of depressed or alternatively, overvalued stocks. Technical indicators play a majority role in determining where these points occur. However, stocks must be fundamentally strong to go long, and fundamentally weak to go short, regardless of their technicals. |
| 9. What types of orders are used to
enter and exit positions? Under normal conditions, market orders are used to enter a position on the next trading day. Trailing stops are generally used to exit positions. This helps protect against large downward swings in the market, while allowing for strong upside potential. |
| 10. How often is this website updated? Every attempt will be made to update this site by 3:00AM EST, the evening before the trades take place. As this is a free hobby site, this time will not be guaranteed. |
| 11. Why is the history in the
portfolio and news sections relatively brief? The owner has limited free time. Entering historical trades beyond the recent past is not feasible at this time. |
| 12. The history is too short for me to
know whether or not this is a successful system. Why
should I assume this is a winning system? Please re-read questions #2 and #6 and their respective answers. |
| 13. How are the stocks allocated for
diversification purposes? The stocks are selected by the methodologies discussed on the Services page. Minimal consideration is given to the current open positions. It is the opinion of the stock picker that diversification simply for the sake of being diversified ultimately leads to mediocre returns. |
| 14. On the Portfolio page, are costs
being factored in to the total return? No. The Portfolio page simply illustrates the straight-up percentage gain. Thus, in reality, returns would be slightly lower due to trading costs, margin costs, slippage, and miscellaneous expenses. |
